Artist Bio: PAMELA WILDERMUTH

Pamela Wildermuth - is a 4th generation Californian, the great-granddaughter of Don Antonio Leiva, renowned vaquero of the vast Tejon Ranch. Wildermuth's childhood was filled with stories of Don Antonio's adventures, drawing sessions with her artist-father and after-school horseback riding lessons. It is not surprising that this horse-crazy little girl grew up to become one of the country's most prominent equine artists.

Wildermuth (pronounced will' der mewth) is a full/signature member of the prestigious American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA), and is a past president of Women Artists of the West (WAOW). Her paintings and drawings, praised for their authenticity and attention to detail, are included in the world's most important exhibitions of equine art. Among her numerous awards are two Equine Images Publisher's Awards and the prestigious AAEA Founders Award for Oil. Her work has been featured in Equine Images, Equus, Spur, Polo, Western Horseman, American Artists and numerous other publications, as well as in the books: Straight From the Heart and Straight From the Heart II, Fleet Street Publishers @1997 and 2003; Art of the American West, Rockport Publishing @1999; and Painting and Drawing Horses, Watson-Guptill Publications @2000. Wildermuth created the paintings for "The Majestic Horse" collectors plate series produced by W.S. George Fine China, The Bradford Exchange (1991-1992); and designed "The Stallion's Kingdom" sculpture produced by the Danbury Mint (1997).

Commissioned portraiture is a specialty of Wildermuth's. She is under contract with the San Fernando Valley Horse Shows Association to produce year-end portraits of their High Point winning horses, and does work for other associations on special request.
