Rick Garcia is an award winning Santa Barbara based artist who works in oils on both canvas and board. He was formally trained in biological illustration at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland Ca. (hence the botanical motifs).

Born in 1953, he spent his early years soaking up the beauty of the back country near his grandparent's ranch in Sebastopol California. The vision of those undeveloped vistas has remained strong throughout the years and remains a strong influence in his work to date. Relying on his love of nature, his interest in the California Plein Air movement as well as his commercial training in realism he has created a blend that is his own unique vision.

Rick had been working as a nationally renowned illustrator and designer for a wide variety of clients until 2000 when he started pursuing his professional artistic career. Maynard Dixon, Ray Strong, Thomas Hart Benton Bjorn Rye, Russell Chatham and Joseph Raphael and are among the many artists he has studied and admired.

Rick's artwork can be found in several fine art galleries throughout California.
