Artist Bio: SHARON GALLIGAN

Sharon was born in San Francisco and raised in the Santa Clara Valley. She is married and has three children and currently lives in Amador County in the Sierra Foothills.

She is a versatile artist, working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media and monotype, but the spontaneity and freshness of watercolor makes it her first love. Many of her subjects are California and European scenes---stone buildings, fishing villages, vineyards, lavender fields, architectural details and, a special favorite, machinery. Her style ranges from realism to impressionism to an occasional abstract.

She was an art major in both high school and college and has been painting professionally since 1978. She has furthered her studies with nationally and internationally noted artists and teachers.

Sharon is a consistent award winner in regional, national and international shows, including the Crocker Art Museum; American Watercolor Society, New York; Watercolor West; Women Artists of the West; the Triton Museum; California State Fair; Crocker-Kinsley Exhibit and many others.

Current gallery affiliations are Lee Youngman Gallery, Calistoga, Main Street Gallery, Murphys, Sutter Creek Gallery.

Sharon says of her chosen profession, "I love to paint----and I paint what excites me! I love the challenge, the anticipation, the frustration, and the excitement of painting!
