Artist Bio: NANCY DAVIDSON
Nancy Davidson - Born in Santa Barbara, California, Nancy Davidson has always had art and horses in her life. As a youngster she was infatuated with the Ed Borein etchings her grandparents collected. With pencil and paper, she would sit and copy them by the hour, then show them to her grandfather for his critique.
Over the past decade Nancy Davidson has established a national reputation for her vibrant paintings of horses. Her work has been exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, the Redding Museum and Art Center, the Tucson Museum of Art, and the International Museum of the Horse in Lexington, Kentucky. Her work has also been seen in various publications, including Western Horseman, Equine Image, and Equine Vision magazines as well as the Coldwater Creek catalog. Most recently her paintings appear in the Academy Award winning film "Sideways".
Nancy is passionate about being an artist and about her work. "I want all of my paintings to be like horses---big, strong, and full of energy. Although I am interested in anatomical accuracy, I am more interested in manipulating color and composition to evoke a strong emotional response. I strive for an image that will glow as intensely as an unforgettable dream or vision."
